About this blog

This blog exists in assisting the public in finding information about orcinus orca or killer whales - especially those orcas living in the Pacific Northwest who are listed as threatened and endangered.

The material collected here is focused on the different eco-types of animals as well as some media collected around them. We hope you enjoy this blog. It is our hope that through this education, we can protect all life.

Resident Orcas

Resident Orcas
North & South Resident killer whales are strictly fish eating orca feasting on (preferably chinook) salmon. They do not eat meat. Characteristically they have rounder dorsal fins and grey open saddle patches.

Transient Orcas

Transient Orcas
Transient killer whales are strictly meat eating orcas who feast on all marine and even land animals. They do not eat fish. Characteristically they have pointier dorsal fins and white solid saddle patches.
